There are X $0.50 pieces in box A.
There are Y $0.20 cent pieces in box B.

There are 19 more coins in box B than in box A, so the equation is:

X = Y - 19

Box A has $1.30 more than box B, so the equation is:

0.50X - 0.20Y = 1.30

Now, we can replace all instances of X in equation two with Y - 19.

0.50(Y - 19) - 0.20Y = 1.30

0.50Y - 9.5 - 0.20Y = 1.30

0.3Y = 10.8

Y = 36.

So there are 36 coins in box B.

So there are

X = 36 - 19 = 17 coins in box A

Since each coin in box A = $0.50, the total value of the coins is:

$0.50 * 17 = $8.50

(note, I could have solved for X directly by replacing Y with (X + 19)

Hope this answers your question.
